Participation in North Carolina
In June 2022, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety applied to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance requesting funding and technical assistance to implement Justice Counts in North Carolina. As stated in North Carolina’s grant application, the Criminal Justice Analysis Center (CJAC) at the Department of Public Safety is using Justice Counts to “create a new vision for public data dissemination.”

What Leaders in North Carolina Are Saying
“While we work to improve the criminal justice data landscape within North Carolina, Justice Counts allows us the opportunity to learn from other jurisdictions. While each state and even smaller jurisdictions within vary, there are ample lessons that can be learned from experiences of others.”
Caroline Farmer, Executive Director, Governor Crime Commission
