Participation in Louisiana

In August 2023, the Louisiana Department of Corrections was the first agency in the state to opt in to Justice Counts. On November 8, 2023, the East Baton Rouge Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) passed a resolution to opt in to Justice Counts and used that to request intensive technical assistance to implement Justice Counts in Louisiana from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance. In its resolution, the Baton Rouge CJCC hopes to use Justice Counts to ensure that fellow state leaders have accurate, accessible, and actionable data to drive decisions about the criminal justice system.
